On the day when Yelp posted a less-than-rosy quarter earnings, missing Wall Street expectations and posting a loss of more than $5 million, Yelp founder and CEO took the company's blog to boast what he says is a major milestone: In January, Yelp saw 100 unique visitors to its site, a first in the company's almost decade-long history.
That figure, Stoppleman wrote, doesn't even include the vistors to Yelp's mobile apps.
For the first time in Yelp history, over 100 million unique visitors came to the site in a one-month period. That's an all-time high for traffic to the desktop and mobile site and a clear indication that people are looking for local businesses and finding them on Yelp. While that number is huge, it doesn't even include the 9.4 million unique mobile devices that used the Yelp mobile app in January alone. For more details, Yelp made up a nifty infographic.
